Last day :(

Friday

I still can not believe that it has been a week, it has gone unbelievably fast! I still have loads that I want to work on and finish but unfortunately I have to go back to uni on Monday!

Today I have been carrying on with my icon designs, I have been simplifying them and making them orange to link in with the rest of the website. These are the images that I created based on the bottom end of pens...

and here is what they would look like on the website:

I also tried it out with the top end of the pens...

and this is what they would look like on the website:

If I were to use the top end of the pens, then the writing bellow it could be written as though coming out of the pens. Unfortunately I only have 10 minutes left until the end of the day so do not have enough time to carry on working on these. I would love to of tried using a white rather than a black on these images, as this may make them seem a little simpler and may work better on the website. Hopefully someone will carry on working on these images!

I have had a lovely week, ending with a nice couple of drinks with everyone in the pub. I hope to be writing again on here soon!

Thursday

Today I was given a completly new task! Becky told me that they intend to redesign the old Geronimo website and that they needed my help with the icons that were going to be on it. I was shown the designs that they had already created, but were unhappy with, then was told to either work on the old ones or create completly new ones. Initially I worked on the old ones, but then decided to try a few of my own! It was a really exciting brief and I am still busy working on it!

Instead of aiming to rework icons that are recognised and used worldwide, I have come up with a completly new idea. I knew that if I was redesigning old ones I could spend weeks an weeks on them, then decide that the origional ones werebetter! I have not shown her my idea yet, but here are my drawings so far.

I have not decided whether to use the top or bottom of the pens yet, but the idea behind them was to use different types of pen to represent each title. As pens can be broken down into many different categories and types, so more can be added if needs be, also it is a subject matter that relates to all jobs roles at Geronimo.

I then tried using the pen that was drawn to redraw the images...

These need some more work on so I will carry on with the project in the morning!

Snow day

Wednesday

Unfortunatly yesterday was a snow day, which most people loved, but it meant one day less of work experience for me :(

Tuesdayyyy

To have a little break from the SEAT booklet I am now experimenting with a new logo for Geronimo's Technology team. Some of the other designers have created a few but I have been asked to see if I can come up with some more. Sticking to Geronimo's Guidline book, here are the ones I have created so far...

I am still playing about with the colour on the above design.

On my lunch break as well as having some much needed hot soup, I also visited a local art gallery with Ade, displaying modern urban art pieces. This helped to inspire me and I am now ready to carry on with with the SEAT booklet! I am going to create a really rough mock-up of my idea to see if it will actually work!

Im back!!

Monday

I contacted Geronimo over the Christmas holidays asking if I would be able to come in for a week whilst I was back from uni and fortunately they said they would love to have me back!

It was lovely seeing all the team again and they were are as welcoming as ever, instantly making me feel at home, which is always nice. I have been told to work on the new SEAT Exeo promotional pack, focussing on the leaflet and envelope rather than the enclosed letter. So far I have come up with a few ideas and designs, which I have had positive feedback about. I am now developing these ideas and will keep you updated with my progress!
